Closed Herd
Our bovine raw material is collected exclusively from cattle in New Zealand that meet and exceed the definition of “closed herd” in the international medical device standard ISO 22442-2:2015, draft international medical device standard ISO/DIS 22442-2:2018 and guidance issued by the US Food and Drug Administration.
We are a US FDA-registered source of closed herd bovine raw material.
In addition, due in part to New Zealand’s geographic isolation and robust biosecurity laws, many zoonotic diseases that exist in other countries do not exist here. For example, there have been no known cases of bovine spongiform encephalopathy (mad cow disease) in New Zealand and New Zealand has been recognised by the World Organisation for Animal Health as a negligible BSE risk country (the highest possible ranking).
